What is Cyclo-Cross?

Many consider cyclo-cross to be a steeplechase with modified road bikes on a 2.5km to 3.5km course over hill and dale, others consider it muddy hell.  Its roots can be traced to the early 1900s, when French army private Daniel Gousseau would ride his bicycle alongside horseback-riding friends through the woods.  But it's also an immensely popular winter race discipline, guaranteed to get you fitter (and muddier) with an exceptional atmosphere to boot.

Notice to all competitors

Dear Riders, Supporters and Volunteers of the SWCX League

To date the League has had a fantastic season this year with rider numbers increasing at a rapid rate.  As great as this is it has placed an enormous strain on the band of volunteers who make all the events happen and the behaviour of some riders at the last Round (9) has not helped.  From the various pictures and posts in FB (noting that not everyone uses FB) it was apparent that many riders took short cuts during the main race, strangely enough the younger members of the League seemed to set the shining example for the day and did not take any short cuts!

The South West Regional Championship

at the Paignton Velopark, on the 3rd December 2017 is a Category A event and the same standard as the other regional champs around the country on the same day. Great for those racing nationally from a points perspective and less travel to get them. For the rest of the League riders it means a couple of changes from the norm:

  1. There will be NO ENTRY ON THE DAY, it's pre-entry ONLY, and all on-line. On-line entry closes midnight, Sunday the 26th November.

League Registration is now closed.
